gewürztraminer
Gewürztraminer is an aromatic alpine white wine varietal with a long and distinguished history. Originating in the Cistercian abbey of Tramin in Alto-Adige, near the Italian-Austrian border, Gewürztraminer was enjoyed in the region since at least the seventeenth century. It was not however, until the latter part of the 20th century that Gewürztraminer became widely popular. The name 'Gewürztraminer' is derived from the German words for 'spice' and 'Tramin', referring to the grapevariety’s distinctly aromatic character.
